We have finally established a revised judging system by changing the name to “JTA Toilet Award” and
introducing a category-based application method with the cooperation of the applicants and the referee
judges. This may have made it easier to convey the intention of Japan Toilet Association to recognize the
excellent products and activities of those who are active in various toilet-related categories. We believe
that this award has grown into one that the winners will be proud of.
This year, we received 23 excellent works. It is difficult to cover all of them in one panel, but we recognize
the levels of the applications become increasingly high. Not only the four works for the JTA Toilet Award
and the three works for the Incentive Award, but also the works that were unfortunately not selected this
time had their own excellent points. This year, there were no works that were eligible for the Special Award,
but we have a judging system that will award various awards. We look forward to receiving even more
applications in the future.
Finally, we would like to thank all those who applied and also those who helped with the judging and
voting. We look forward to next year being even more enthusiastic than this year.
Thank you very much.

Kazunori Nakano, Ph.D., Deputy Chairperson of JTA Toilet Award Committee, Professor, College of
Engineering, Nihon University / Ecological Engineering, Environmental Engineering.

We have received many submissions for JTA Toilet Awards, and we recognize the levels of the works
are becoming higher year by year. However, we feel it is a unfortunate that we cannot afford to award only
a limited number of the works. It is ideal that this JTA award has become popular as it raises interest to the
toilets. We hope this will be also enthusiastic next year, and I would like to conclude my comment.
Many congratulations to all the award winners. We would also like to thank the applicants and everyone
who supported this award with their excellent works.
