Japan Toilet Association（JTA）has been working to create a toilet culture, create a comfortable its environment and improve social issues related to toilets since the establishment in 1985.
Our activities have contributed to improve the public toilet environments such as local public toilets and transportation toilets with barrier-free access. Over the years, JTA have achieved various results such as contributing to the International Conference on Toilet and to establish the World Toilet Organization (WTO) which arranged the United Nations World Toilet Day on 19 November.
We will continually contribute to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
GOAL 6: CLEAN WATER AND SANITATION
It is said that more than 2.4 billion people in the world can not have access to basic sanitation facilities such as toilets and public toilets, and 1.8 million children die each year from diseases caused by unsanitary water.
JTA will promote water-saving and environmentally friendly toilet systems in Japan, and will work to maintain hygiene and secure toilets, especially in the event of a disaster. We will also work to contribute to improving the global toilet environment.
GOAL 11: SUSTAINABLE CITIES AND COMMUNITIES

一般社団法人日本トイレ協会は、1985年に創立以来、トイレ文化の創出と快適なトイレ環境の創造、トイレに関する社会的課題の改善をめざして活動してきました。私たちの活動は国内の公衆トイレ、交通機関のトイレ等公共的なトイレの環境改善やバリアフリーの進展、トイレに関する国際会議やWorld Toilet Organizationの発足、国連世界トイレの日（11月19日）の制定に寄与するなど、多年にわたって様々な成果を上げてきており、これからもSDGs（持続可能な開発目標）の達成に貢献します。
目標６「安全な水とトイレを世界中に」
世界にはトイレや公衆便所など、基本的な衛生施設を利用できない人の数が24億人以上にもなり、不衛生な水が原因による疾患で死亡する子どもの数が年間180万人にもなるといわれています。日本トイレ協会では、国内では節水や環境に配慮したトイレシステムの普及を取り組むとともに、特に災害時の衛生の保持とトイレの確保を図っていきます。また世界のトイレ環境改善に貢献できるよう取り組んでいきます。
目標11包摂的で安全かつ強靱（レジリエント）で持続可能な都市及び人間居住を実現する
脆弱な立場にある人々、女性、子ども、障害者及び高齢者等すべての人々が安全に移動、居住できる環境のためには、トイレはもっとも基本的な設備です。トイレのバリアフリー、ユニバーサルデザインの普及に取り組んでいきます。
